Your privacy is the whole reason FreeDocToPDF ("we", "us", "the Service") exists. This page explains, in plain language, what we do and don't do with your data, and the steps we take to keep it safe. We are an Australian-based company with servers hosted in Europe, and we handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Act 1988. By using freedoctopdf.com, you're agreeing to what's described here.
The short version: there's no account to create. We don't keep your files. Most of them are processed in memory and never saved to disk at all, and whatever we do produce is gone the moment you download it or close the tab. We never sell your data.
When you use a tool, your file is sent to our server for one reason only: to do the job you asked for. Each request runs in its own isolated session with a random, unguessable ID, and the file is reachable only by the tool while your request is being processed. What happens next depends on which tool you're using.
For most tools — merge, split, rotate, compress, sign, edit, protect, unlock, OCR, and the image and PDF-to-image tools — the file you upload is read straight into the server's memory (RAM) and worked on there, so it's never written to our disk. Only the finished result is saved, into a secure, private processing area that's isolated from other users, and only for as long as it takes you to download it. (OCR is the one exception in this group: while it reads the text it keeps a short-lived working copy in a RAM-backed area rather than on the SSD.)
For the Office↔PDF conversions — Word, Excel and PowerPoint to PDF, and PDF to Word, Excel or PowerPoint — the office engine that does the conversion needs a real file to open, so your upload is written to that same secure, private processing area for the few seconds the conversion runs. Its temporary working files stay in a RAM-backed area, and both your upload and the result are removed as described below.
The Make Event Calendar and Scan to PDF tools don't convert an uploaded document at all — they build your file from the details you put together in your browser, and only the finished file is written for you to download.
Whichever tool you use, the same promises hold: we don't open, read, analyse or index what's inside your documents; your result (and any upload that briefly touched the disk) is removed the instant your download finishes; anything you don't download is cleared automatically within five minutes by a continuous cleanup process; and we never copy your files to long-term storage, backups, logs, or any third party.
Like most websites, our servers and analytics tools pick up a little technical information so we can keep things running and secure. That includes basic log data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, which we use for security, abuse prevention and aggregate statistics. We also use usage analytics (for example, Google Analytics) to see which tools are popular, and that data is aggregated rather than tied to you personally. Finally, we keep simple short-lived counters tied to an IP address purely for rate-limiting and abuse prevention; they aren't linked to your identity.
A couple of features lean on outside services, each operating under its own privacy policy. A public-holiday data provider (and, optionally, Google Gemini) supplies the holiday lists in the Make Event Calendar tool, and Google Analytics and Google AdSense handle analytics and, where enabled, advertising. We don't sell your data to any of them, and we only ever share what each one needs to do its job.
We use a small number of cookies. Essential cookies make the site function and remember your cookie choice. With your consent, we also use advertising and analytics cookies. You can accept or limit these through our cookie banner at any time. For full details, see our Cookie Policy.
FreeDocToPDF is free because it is supported by advertising, including Google AdSense. Advertising partners may use cookies to show relevant ads. These partners operate under their own privacy policies. We do not share your uploaded files with advertisers — ever.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the Australian Privacy Act 1988, the GDPR or the CCPA, including the right to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you. Because we deliberately collect almost no personal data and store no files, there's usually very little for us to act on — but you're welcome to email us any time at [email protected] to exercise those rights. If you're in Australia and we can't resolve a privacy concern to your satisfaction, you can also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
FreeDocToPDF is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "last updated" date above. Significant changes will be highlighted on the site.
